Core Research Program: Cell Signaling and Growth Control
The Cell Signaling and Growth Control Research Program studies growth and cell-cycle regulatory pathways, signaling cascades, apoptosis and other important cellular switches and checkpoints that may be essential in the transition from a normal cell to a malignant cell. Through exploration of the switches and checkpoints that determine a cell's fate, researchers are identifying the critical differences between normal and cancer cells. A better understanding of these mechanisms will provide the basis for the development of new cancer therapeutics, prognostic and diagnostic markers, and future chemoprevention.
