VCC Facilities

ScientistVCC is a matrix-based organization located within the University of Vermont (UVM). The academic medical center at UVM - the only one in the state of Vermont - involves a primary alliance of the UVM College of Medicine and Fletcher Allen Health Care, a not-for-profit academic healthcare system.

VCC is an official administrative unit of UVM. For most of its history, VCC's core facilities had been located in several sites on the UVM campus. In July of 2001, all core laboratories moved into the new Health Science Research Facility on the College of Medicine campus. This consolidation of core facilities was aided by a $3 million federal appropriation garnered by Senator James Jeffords in 2000.

UVM CampusVCC physicians provide patient care through Fletcher Allen Health Care, which completed a major new state-of-the-art outpatient care facility in 2005. The outstanding space at Fletcher Allen and the UVM College of Medicine, include an Ambulatory Care Center, an Education and Conference Center, and a new VCC clinical facility which allows integrated, multidisciplinary services for cancer diagnosis, outpatient treatment, and post-treatment follow up in a single ambulatory setting.
