Biography

Dr. Nunnink received his M.D. from the UVM College of Medicine in 1980. He was an intern and resident at Fletcher Allen Health Care, and held a fellowship at the Wisconsin Clinical Cancer Center in Madison, WI. He was a research associate there before returning to Vermont to start the Vermont Center for Cancer Medicine (a private practice) and research program at FAHC. Dr. Nunnink is board certified in Internal medicine and oncology (1986). He has served on the board of directors of FAHC. Dr. Nunnink is a Presidential appointee to the clinical practice committee of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). He is also President Elect of the Northern New England Clinical Oncology Society (NNECOS) and serves on the council to the Vermont State Medical Society.

Research

Dr. Nunnink is the principle investigator for breast cancer (letrozole) and lymphoma (rituximab/chop) studies currently underway, as well as a supportive care study. His research involves participating in CALGB and NSABP cancer trials. He is a member of the Vermont Cancer Center and is active on the Breast Care Center operations committee. His previous research involved investigating immunotherapy directed at melanoma, renal cancer and bladder cancer (at the Wisconsin Comprehensive Cancer Center).
